MALTA PADDLING  MARATHON 2026

I. OBJECTIVES

Popularize water tourism and rowing sports in Rēzekne county and the Latgale region.
Promote the protection, maintenance, and improvement of the Malta River waters and environment, as well as the development of tourism infrastructure.
Develop water tourism routes on the Malta River.

II. TASK

Determine the fastest male and female rowers in the 53km distance, in various watercraft classes.

IV. TIME, PLACE, DISTANCE AND AWARDS

Time and place: April 11, 2026, Malta River, section from Kruki to Nagļi HES (53km).
Distance: The 53 km distance is divided into two stages with a checkpoint at Viļāni HES.

1. Kruki – Viļāni HES, stage length 28km. At Viļāni HES, boats are carried along a marked path.
2. Viļāni HES – Nagļi HES, stage length 25 km.

Start at 09:00. Participants begin the race with a staggered start. The starting order may be changed depending on the number of participants and other circumstances.

Distance time is recorded at the start and finish. The time limit for completing the distance is 10 hours. Participants who do not finish within the time limit will be disqualified.
Awards: All participants who finish within the time limit receive commemorative prizes. Special awards are given to the top three finishers in each boat class.

V. PARTICIPANTS AND BOAT CLASSES

Any individual who has reached 18 years of age may participate. Persons younger than 18 may participate only with written permission from a legal representative or in their company.

SUP WOM – SUP women

C2 MIX – canoe, mixed team

VI. REGISTRATION AND PARTICIPATION

Registration for the competition until April 4, 2026, by filling out the registration form on the website www.paddling.lv and paying the participation fee.

Participation fee: 40 EUR

VII. SAFETY

1. Participants must wear life jackets throughout the entire distance.
2. A charged mobile phone in waterproof packaging must be carried.
3. By registering for the competition, participants confirm that they are aware of their physical and mental readiness to complete the race distance. During the distance, participants are responsible for their own safety on the water and are prepared to assist other participants as long as it does not endanger their own safety or health.
4. If a participant withdraws from the competition, the race organizers must be immediately informed by calling or sending a text message to: GSM +371 22103828

VIII. DATA PROCESSING

1. By registering for the competition, participants confirm that they do not object to the use of their personal data in competition protocols, and the use of photographs and video materials taken by organizers during the competition in public competition materials.
2. Information provided in the registration form is not transferred to third parties or used for sending information unrelated to this event.
3. Organizers are not responsible for photo or video materials taken and published by competition participants or spectators.
